Making a milk crate shouldn’t be a big deal. I mean, it’s just a bunch of wooden planks nailed together.
And yet, there’s something special about how YouTuber omozoc made their milk crate. It could be a mixture of stop motion and cartoony sound effects, but this video is poppy, snappy, and a treat for those who love some good ASMR.
The way the wood is cut using different kitchen utensils makes it look almost effortless. What typically includes minutes of cutting and clouds of flying sawdust is condensed into a few still photos played in seconds.
Even the way these planks are connected is smooth. Metal connectors and nails were given the lightest of taps so they could firmly secure these pieces of wood. Different stop motion effects were used to mix up how omozoc placed the nails in the video.
With the crate assembled, omozoc smoothened out the edges and used a butter knife combined with some satisfying slather sound effects to mask his handiwork.
To make the milk crate look old and weathered, he scraped and hammered in some imperfections using… kitchen utensils? Some dark wood stain and a “milk” label rounded out the crate’s transformation from “just completed box” to “aged receptacle.”
All in all, omozoc compiled a grand total of 2,854 still shots to make this stop motion video.
